forbesDARTMOUTH LANDS ON TOP IN FORBES.COM SALARY RANKING. Ten and 20 years into their careers, a well-rounded education and loyal alumni network help Dartmouth grads "leapfrog their peers." Monica Wilson, associate director of career services at Dartmouth, says, "The ability to think outside the box and adapt as easily as Dartmouth students do is what puts them ahead."

adamOLYMPICS: FOLLOW DARTMOUTH COMPETITORS AT THE IVY LEAGUE ATHLETICS BLOG. Representing the United States, Canada, and New Zealand, three Dartmouth alumni and a student are competing in such events as rowing, shotput, soccer, and triathalon. The Ivy League Athletics blog also includes a list of 124 Dartmouth Olympians. Opening ceremonies begin August 8.

rolfe MAJOR GIFT ESTABLISHES RED ROLFE FIELD AT BIONDI PARK. A $5.2 million gift from Mike, Class of 1979, and Cindy Ginn Biondi, Class of 1980, will support major renovations to Red Rolfe Field and a new ballpark. "This gift has special meaning for all of us who have had the privilege to work closely with Cindy and Mike Biondi," said President James Wright.

dhallbRECORD-BREAKING YEAR FOR THE CAMPAIGN FOR THE DARTMOUTH EXPERIENCE. Total giving for fiscal year 2008 was $168 million, an increase over the previous high of $160 million in 2006. The Class of 1953 and the Class of 1978 made two lead gifts that exceed $58 million.

wisdomFIRST-YEAR STUDENT SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENT: THE WISDOM OF CROWDS. Professor of Government Dean Lacy, who assigned the book and will deliver the September 17 Class of 2012 lecture, said he will discuss in part "whether elections, legislatures, bureaucracies, and markets produce good decisions." Looking for other good books? See what past classes have read. Lacy will also discuss the book during Homecoming weekend, on October 17 in Tindle Lounge.

nprLISTEN: DARTMOUTH PROFESSOR IS DIGITAL FORENSICS EXPERT ON NPR'S "TALK OF THE NATION." "Certain manipulations for certain images are fine, and completely acceptable, and in other cases they are not," says Hany Farid, professor of computer science. See notorious examples of photo manipulation, beginning with one of Abraham Lincoln, in Farid's: "Photo Tampering Throughout History".

bioBIOGRAPHY CHANNEL TO AIR SPECIAL MARKING 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF MOVIE ANIMAL HOUSE. Released in 1978 and based in part on the experiences of Alpha Delta fraternity brother Chris Miller '63, National Lampoon's Animal House is an iconic movie that was inducted into the Library of Congress National Film Registry in 2001. The documentary includes footage of Miller, a co-writer of the screenplay, at Dartmouth this past spring. August 13, 9 p.m. EST. lusardiECONOMICS PROFESSOR WORKING WITH U.S. TREASURY DEPARTMENT ON SURVEY OF FINANCIAL LITERACY. Professor Anna Maria Lusardi is helping the Treasury Department gather data on the saving habits and consumption behavior of Americans. The department calls the survey "the first of its kind."

bgbchVIDEO: DARTMOUTH BIG GREEN BUS IN PALO ALTO, CA. Twelve Dartmouth students are currently on the bus that was converted to run on waste vegetable oil. The New York Times recently pictured the bus on its "Education Life" section, and recognized the students as "Catalysts for Change."

birdGREEN NEWS. Professor Nicholas Rodenhouse '87 on blue-throated black warblers, Robert Portman '78 is a potential Republican vice-president candidate, and former NBA player Walter Palmer '90 still plays basketball in Massachusetts.

wrightMARK YOUR CALENDAR: PRESIDENT JAMES AND SUSAN DEBEVOISE WRIGHT TO VISIT ALUMNI CLUBS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. In the final year of his tenure, President James Wright and first lady Susan DeBevoise Wright will visit 11 Dartmouth alumni clubs, from New York to California.

footballFACULTY CHALK TALK LECTURES PRIOR TO HOME FOOTBALL GAMES, BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 27. Linda Fowler (Government), Aine Donovan (Ethics Institute), and Peter Saccio (English) are among the professors delivering one-hour lectures on compelling topics before each home football game. Saturdays at 10 a.m. in Alumni Hall.
